About Us

Joe Blankson foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching children and adults on how to swim. We use swimming events and trainings as a tool to bring children and adults together to further our campaign for swimming skills and use of swimming to replace unhealthy habits such drugs and substance abuse and alcoholism.

HISTORY

On the 28th of July 2018 at about 2;30pm Late Joe Blankson paid the ultimate price after rescuing (13) drowning co-passengers in a twenty-one (21) passengers speed boat which capsized while travelling to his home town Bakana near Port Harcourt Rivers State. He lost his life while trying to rescue the 14th person probably out of exhaustion. Joe and other added to the unacceptable statistics of the number of people drown by water. An estimated 236, 000 people drown every year, drowning is the 2nd leading cause of unintentional injury death for children under 14 with the highest rates among children 1-4.
Joe’s widow, Mercy Joe Blankson founded Joe Blankson Foundation with a vision of a society free of loss of Lives through water accidents.
